波平又川部落跡 海軍保安隊が使用することになった地域の認定について

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

1. The Mayor of YOMITAN-SON understands that the Navy has acquired the property known variously as SOBE ANNEX and HANZA TRACT the bounds of which are set forth on the map attached hereto. There are 3 Ryukyuan houses wholly or partly within the bounds of said property.

2. The Mayor of YOMITAN-SON understands and agrees that additional Ryukyuan houses or other structures will not be built on the Navy property, and that if such are built the Navy will remove or destroy them without recourse to the Mayor and without compensation to the owner.

3. The Commanding Officer, U.S. Naval Security Group Activity, Futenma, Okinawa, understands and agrees that Ryukyuans are free to cultivate crops on the Navy property until such time as construction begins. Not less than 30-days notice of the commencement of construction operations will be communicated to the Mayor of YOMITAN-SON in writing by the Commanding Officer.

4. The Mayor understands that the Navy will inspect the area frequently and may post guards on the property.

5. The foregoing is understood and agreed this 19 days of December 1958 by the undersigned.
